In a move by Amazon, mirroring to Roku TV, It is joining hands with lower-priced TV brands including Westinghouse and Seiki.
Amazon is in full mood of making the momentum of its Fire TV sticks and set-top boxes by coming up with Fire TV interface along with Alexa voice control assistant to the lower third party 4K TV sets.
At the CES tech show in Las Vegas, Westinghouse LLC, Element Electronic Corp, and Seiki LLC; all self-styled cot efficient brands, announced their collaboration with Fire TV edition 4K TVs. Amazon who is mainly known for branded software and hardware pairings such as Fire Tablet and Kindle E-reader, has recently started sharing its interface with third-parties beginning with Alexa voice control. This is a proven strategy of teaming up with budgeted brands to get a foothold in today’s highly competitive market. A senior analyst with the Diffusion Group Research Firm, Joel Espelien said that the base which Amazon is going to offer will be similar to Roku like cheap TVs from brands that are eagerly waiting forgetting the success in US and Chinese markets. The higher brands have been locked now. LG and Samsung have their own smart TV operating systems and Sony and Vizio have their commitment with Google. So, for Amazon there is no other option left but to go for lower brands.
The Fire TV of Amazon built by Westinghouse, Element, and Seiki, will be in range from 43 to 65 inches in size and will available in 4K resolutions only. Both Seiki and Westinghouse will be demonstrating their Fire TV sets this week at CES. The sale of new TVs will start later this year, but the pricing has not been disclosed by the companies yet.
